Education concerns remain high at LA County juvenile hall
By Betty Márquez Rosales, EdSource, February 21, 2025
"When we are thinking about young folks who are in these camps and halls, we want to make sure they're having access to academic rigor that is deeper than just a packet."
- Yasmine-Imani McMorrin, director of education equity at Children's Defense Fund California
"Our policy recommendation, and something we’ve been consistently advocating for, is keeping people in the community as much as possible. If you don’t have the staff, we should really question why young people are in here."
- Vivian Wong, education attorney and interim director of the Youth Justice Education Clinic at the Loyola Law School
